Brian D. Piorek
Dr. Brian D. Piorek leads the development of SpectraFluidics technology for the detection of airborne molecules. He is a co-inventor of the SpectraFluidics technology and is a co-founder of the company. Dr. Piorek holds degrees in chemical engineering and micro/nanoscale mechanical engineering and specializes in the design of microfluidic systems and nanoscale devices for the detection of chemical agents. He has published peer-reviewed papers in the fields of fluid dynamics and chemical detection in journals including JACS, PNAS and APL and holds expertise in microfluidics, micro/nanoscale reactor design and surface chemistry. He was awarded the 2010 Best PhD Thesis Award (UCSB Mechanical Engineering) for his thesis: "Transport Processes in Free Surface Microfluidics".
