The SpectraFluidics Solution
SpectraFluidics, Inc, (SF) has invented a new trace chemical technology for the gas-phase detection of ultra trace levels of chemicals. This technology is not an incremental improvement on existing approaches; rather, it represents a completely new platform technology for the detection of explosives, illicit drugs, and many other chemicals and applications. The SpectraFluidics solution combines very high sensitivity levels with equally high selectivity to yield a detector capable of detecting and identifying analytes at the parts-per-trillion level (or better) in air with a very low false-positive rate.
There are two physical configurations of SpectraFluidics’ trace chemical detector: a portal configuration and a hand-held configuration. The portal design is intended to discretely cover personnel entrances to hotel lobbies, commercial buildings, government facilities, transit facilities, theaters, marketplaces, stadiums, etc. The objective is to identify airborne molecules associated with the immediate presence of hidden/camouflaged explosives, drugs/contraband, or suicide bombers. In a similar manner, portals can be configured in driveways, roadways, or parking facilities to detect vehicle borne explosives, drugs, or contraband.
The handheld design is intended for mobile searches and inspections of suspicious packages, unidentified materials, potential roadside IEDs, and unidentified personnel.
